Most Lowcountry homes run heat pumps, which means the heating season problems are different from the ones people expect. Auxiliary heat strips and defrost boards fail far more often than compressors.
Heat pumps and furnaces
If your system is running constantly on a cold morning and the air from the vents feels cool, that is usually the reversing valve or a failed defrost control, not a system at the end of its life. We check those first.
For gas furnaces we test the heat exchanger, the igniter, and the flame sensor, and we carry a carbon monoxide meter on every heating call. That check is not optional and it is not billed separately.

Heating questions
Why does my heat pump blow cool air sometimes?
During a defrost cycle the system briefly reverses to melt frost off the outdoor coil. A few minutes is normal. Twenty minutes is not.
Do you handle no heat emergencies?
Yes, including after hours during cold snaps. Those calls go to the top of the list when the overnight low is below freezing.
How often should a furnace be serviced?
Once a year, before the season. The safety checks alone justify it, and most manufacturer warranties require documented annual service.
